Africa Healthcare and Biotech Alliance

Who We Are

The Africa healthcare and Biotech Alliance is strategically positioned to ensure that the Diaspora plays a leading role in cooperatively supporting Africa solutions to its healthcare challenges.

We are a diverse and global network of professionals and allies who are focused on strengthening healthcare systems in Africa and communities of the Diaspora.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed global health fragilities and motivated many institutions to mobilize resources to strengthen healthcare systems and develop local pharmaceutical manufacturing and life science innovations in Africa.

Bridging The Gap

Africa's healthcare ecosystems have considerable gaps, though improving at the level of trained professionals, financing, representation and technology. While Sub-Saharan Africa makes up 11% of the world's population and 25% of the world disease burden, it has just 3% of the world's health workers. In fact, recent research suggests that Africa will be short six million healthcare workers by 2030.

The Alliance seeks to help bridge the healthcare resources gap between African countries and the rest of the world. We aim to connect Diaspora professionals to opportunities in Africa for reciprocal knowledge transfer, talent recruitment, investment, capacity-building and health-tech innovation. The Alliance will also provide a platform for creating sustainable next generation technology solutions and research partnerships for the benefit of Africa, Diaspora communities and the world.

How we deliver value and impact

The Alliance provides a networking platform for healthcare professionals to share their work, a database of opportunities for career advancement in the Africa healthcare sector and a talent bank.
